November is…

november-is

Extremely counter productive. Especially when I keep getting sick. Woe.

On the plus side, I’ve started working on small parts of peoples Christmas presents, and I watched the Scream Awards, which are possibly the most awesome awards show, ever. I’ve also been working on expanding a few of my characters and verses, not just the one related to NaNo.

I’m considering making magnets (marble and a few other types) maybe custom stationary/stamps, lavender sachets for drawers, nice little things as I’m making most if it by hand and a lot of people in my family keep telling me they have too much stuff. Maybe decorated candle holders? I don’t know. Ugh.

I hope everyone’s going strong! :hkiss:

Some Crafty W.I.P.’s

This is a “Faery House” I’m currently in the process of making. It’s made out of Super Sculpey and is in the process of being painted. Also, it has a semi-precious gemstone chip floor..

Excuse the shoddy photos and start of the paint job. It’ll look better when it’s done.

See? I told you! the floor around the stones is tinted slightly green with watered down acrylics. Ain’t it pretty? Also, note that I have put WINDOWS in! :D

A slightly more flattering shot of the half painted roof. The Green “grass” is a lot warmer in colouring in person, though.

And some more marble designs, for good measure. Also warmer in person but photoshop didn’t want to make them the right colour without making the page brown. Stupid thing.

Marble Madness

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Hello, whats this? New marbles! Including two HP ones, Nicole wanted tone too. As you can see if you click on the thumbnail the sharpie ran a little in two of them but I’m working on stopping that.

I haven’t lost my marbles yet…

i-havent-lost-my-marbles-yet

No marbles today because by the time they were dry the light was too bad and natural lights really are best, especially because I need to do Macros to get the details of the marbles.

I did remember something, though.

Sharpie RUNS if you don’t seal it first. D’oh. I thought it’d be fine because the glue I’m using is silicon based not water based.. It’s not even overly liquid, but I have some slightly puple halos/smudges now. Less noticeable on the ToMU marble, though. I’ve been sealing them first since with minimal blur/smudge issues.

I got some more supplies today too, including extra squished marbles to continue the creative splurge (the local discount store, our only “craft” store has a habit of running out of them for months at a time) . I also got a five colour stamp pad with green, blue, orange, red and yellow for $2.50 and it seems to work very well with the little alphabet stamps I got to try lettering for the marbles.I need to come up with some even smaller stamps, ideally, but we’ll see.

Oh and I got a new 0.4 Artline Black Felt tip fineliner. It runs, too. But not as badly especially if I seal. I do have a spray on work fixative I’m going to try tomorrow for it. The fixative I’ve had for ages, I use it on my chalk pastel drawings and it seals almost ANYTHING in my experience.

Now to play with some pretty inks.

I have an Owl Problem. Heh.

And a general crafting obsession problem, but that’s a whole textbook.

I do blame Harry Potter for this, and possibly Winnie The Pooh… and the internet, where all good obsessions are born and encouraged.

Now that we’ve made my generally obsessive nature clear, nobody should be surprised that I made Owl Marbles last night. They’re those flat bottomed type I think most people put in vases unadulterated. Wouldn’t do for someone like me and I don’t really believe in keeping vases of flowers around anyway – they live longer on the plant.

Three different kinds of owls in the front row, all drawn by me. The back row has one lot of flowers and a butterfly (on the same one) that I drew and three other flowers I cut from a spare page or two in my memo pads.

Better picture minus the sideways distortion. The marbles act as a magnifier to the pictures glued underneath nearly doubling them in size. I kind of wish the marbles were a bit bigger, it’s awkward drawing designs smaller than a five cent piece.

The ToMU one on the bottom row is more purple than blue in real life, Purple and Green are the colours of Magisterius University where the story is set. Or I’m pretty sure they are. Erm. For those of you not up on the webfiction stories, it’s a High Fantasy University story of which I’ve read 380 Chapters plus various and sundry other bits and bobs.

And yes, that’s a dragon head above the lady beetle. I freehanded that in sharpie, of all things.

Now to go draw more owls. (And incase you didn’t notice, the first two pictures are on the design of an owl plushie I’m working on. Heh)
