I have an Owl Problem. Heh.

Monday, May 18th, 2009

And a general crafting obsession problem, but that’s a whole textbook.

I do blame Harry Potter for this, and possibly Winnie The Pooh… and the internet, where all good obsessions are born and encouraged.

Now that we’ve made my generally obsessive nature clear, nobody should be surprised that I made Owl Marbles last night. They’re those flat bottomed type I think most people put in vases unadulterated. Wouldn’t do for someone like me and I don’t really believe in keeping vases of flowers around anyway – they live longer on the plant.

Three different kinds of owls in the front row, all drawn by me. The back row has one lot of flowers and a butterfly (on the same one) that I drew and three other flowers I cut from a spare page or two in my memo pads.

Better picture minus the sideways distortion. The marbles act as a magnifier to the pictures glued underneath nearly doubling them in size. I kind of wish the marbles were a bit bigger, it’s awkward drawing designs smaller than a five cent piece.

The ToMU one on the bottom row is more purple than blue in real life, Purple and Green are the colours of Magisterius University where the story is set. Or I’m pretty sure they are. Erm. For those of you not up on the webfiction stories, it’s a High Fantasy University story of which I’ve read 380 Chapters plus various and sundry other bits and bobs.

And yes, that’s a dragon head above the lady beetle. I freehanded that in sharpie, of all things.

Now to go draw more owls. (And incase you didn’t notice, the first two pictures are on the design of an owl plushie I’m working on. Heh)

Cakes I wish I could have baked…

I have bakers envy. ’nuff said. Kinda shitty day, this makes life better. Time to get myself some dessert.

Harry Potter Crochet!

harry-potter-crochet

Same yada ya from the previous crochet post, read the books, love these ones, understand it takes patience and hard work to crochet and the ones I point out that I don’t like aren’t here to offend the makers, just to show a variety of stuff I’ve found on flickr! I’m leaving scarves out unless they’re exceptional, for obvious reasons.

A bit close to scarves, but still a lovely way to show Gryffindor Pride are these adorable little pretties and knick knacks that I would wear despite my hatred of maroon.

Stitch wise this is awesome, and scary because of the colours at the same time but considering that it is a replica of something Mollywobbles wears, I’m not entirely surprised.

Twilight Crochet?

twilight-crochet

I fully admit that I brought this upon myself. That learning crochet is dangerous for my searching curiosity when exposed to the crazy kids over at flickr. Particularly when I dare to put a fandom name with the word crochet and have a little poke around.

I do know better, honestly!

Now I have to put this here, hopefully to avoid getting my head ripped off by over zealous Twilighters, Twilight MOMS and otherwise slap happy types. And Crocheters. I HAVE read the books AND seen the movie. In fact I OWN copies of all the Twilight books. I therefore reserve the right to think Edward is a creepy jerk and their relationship is highly abusive and manipulated by Edders and don’t even start me on their Demon-Sporn. Okay?

That said, I did enjoy the books, but I knew they were bad while I was reading them.

To Crocheters. I have watched (and am learning from) my Aunt Crochet since I was little. I know it’s hard work and therefore I am not insulting the artists or the crochet itself. Just a little (scary) fun.
